FAQS

Frédéric Rent A Bike is situated in the heart of Amsterdam, 5 minutes walking from our central train station: 'Centraal station Amsterdam.'
We are located at: Binnen Wieringerstraat 23, Amsterdam.
DOES FRÉDÉRIC STILL RENT OUT ACCOMMODATION?
Frédéric rents out a beautiful holiday cottage, 45 minutes outside Amsterdam in a historical town called Schoorl, next to Bergen. More info on our homepage. We no longer offer accommodation in Amsterdam because our city counsel does not allow us anymore.
DOES FRÉDÉRIC RENT A BIKE HAVE BIKES WITH GEARS FOR LONGER ROUTES OUTSIDE AMSTERDAM?
Yes! Frédéric offers a wide range of trekking bikes ideal for longer routes outside the city. All shapes and sizes. We also sell maps with all the bike routes available in North and South Holland, including routes to our famous Keukenhof flower garden. Also the waterland area with its historical fisherman towns, Monnickendam, Volendam, Marken and more!
DOES FRÉDÉRIC HAVE MY SIZE/STYLE BIKE?
Frédéric Rent A Bike has all sorts, shapes and sizes of bikes. All our bikes come with handbrakes and gears. We also offer a few old school dutch foot brake bikes, for clients seeking an authentic Dutch experience. All different colors and brands are available. DOES MY BIKE COME WITH LOCKS? WHAT ABOUT THEFT INSURANCE?
All our bikes come with great locks, which can never be opened. We guarantee our clients their bikes will never get stolen with our A brand chain locks!
If one of our rentals is stolen whilst locked with the chain in a proper way, our insurance policy will cover the costs.
DO I NEED TO USE A HELMET WHILE CYCLING?
Helmets are not mandatory to wear in The Netherlands. If you wish to use one, you can rent one for a small fee. Holland is landscaped in a way that cyclists can be safe at all times. Our bikes are built so you can sit straight up. In case of accidents, which hardly occurs, you won't be facing the pavement. On top of that, traffic is accustomed to cyclists of all ages at all times. Holland hasn't got hills and cyclists would always be cycling in a moderate pace.
WHERE AND HOW DO I PARK MY BIKE? AND DO BIKES GET STOLEN OFTEN?
In The Netherlands and especially Amsterdam, you will find plenty of parking space. This can be found in the huge number of bike parking areas as well for rails of bridges and canals. One simply locks the wheel lock and uses the chain to secure the front wheel and frame to a rail or bar. Bikes get stolen a lot in Amsterdam, but only due to careless parking & behaviour.
DO YOU OFFER ANY GROUP DISCOUNTS?
Yes! We offer a 10% discount for any group bigger than 5 persons, if the rental duration is at least 24 hours. Keep in mind that this cannot be booked online. Only when clients pay on arrival.
WHICH PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?
We accept all cards and cash payments. The payment will be done on arrival or via our booking page up front.

CAN I USE THE CITY BIKE THAT I RENTED TO CYCLE IN THE COUNTRYSIDE?
